José Cuervo Reserva de la Familia - 1999 Collection

Leonardo Gutiérez Romero - Artist - 1999 Collection

Photograph of tequila bottle and decorative box. Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Tequila 1999 Collection in a box with artwork by Mexican artist Leonardo Gutierrez Romero.

Tequila Reserva de la Familia was introduced in 1995 to celebrate the 200-year anniversary as the world's leading producer of tequila. Each bottle is handmade, numbered, dated and sealed in wax.

Every year the Cuervo family commissions a different Mexican artist to design the artwork for collectible box for Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia.

This year the boxes are embelished with the amazing creatures of Mexican fauna. Friendly, expressive, happy and somewhat mysterious, the characters of Leonardo Gutiérez Romero, were brought to live through our 1999 Reserva de la Familia Boxes.

Born in a humble family in Mexico City in 1958, he's been continuously searching to define his onw style by means of hard work. Starting as a self-taught artist, he later studied painting and drawing in the Casa de la Cultura de la Delegacíon Magdalena Contereras, in the Academia de San Carlos and with Maestros Javier Anzures and Marcela Zorrila.

His work has been exhibited in collective and individual expositions in Mexico, the U. S. and Europe. His work is also a part of permanent collections in Mexico City, Denver, and Munich.
